New features in NAV 2016
Microsoft Dynamics NAV is the most popular product in Dynamics family. This year Microsoft made sure that each and every of 117 000 companies running on NAV will investigate very closely into the prospect of upgrading to the newest version of the system. It's because NAV 2016 offers a bunch of breakthrough changes, that you can lear more about in our article...

Works natively with Azure SQL

Azure SQL Database is a relational database service in the cloud based on the Microsoft SQL Server engine, with built-in, mission-critical capabilities.

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 can be configured to use Azure SQL as a relational database-as-a-service, eliminating maintanance and reducing costs.

Azure SQL database, with its predictable performance, guarantees matching the scale and pace of your business environment. It provides industry-leading 99.99% availability, built'in redundancy, resilience and security features, point-in-time recovery, and attractive pricing.

Dedicated smartphone app

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 enables mobile workers on any device with new streamlined, easy-to-use native apps for all forms of devices - phones, tablets, notebooks and desktops running Android, iOS, or Windows. It is also optimized for touch as well as traditional mouse and keyboard. NAV 2016 follows "Universal App" philosophy. Once you are familiar with one interface, you know them all.

On your smartphone, you can also use the camera to capture invoices on-the-go, and create the corresponding purchase document, increasing your effectiveness out in the field.

Workflow

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 workflows enable you to model real-life business processes such as best practices or industry-standard practices.

Increase your productivity with more than 20 powerful, out-of-the-box workflow templates that facilitate sales and purchase approvals, create notifications for someone to take action, or help you handle incoming documents. In just a few clicks Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 lets you set up workflows to connect your business processes to industry standards.

Anyone can use the intuitive workflow designer that comes with NAV 2016 to create and modify workflow steps, so you can easily create tailormade workflows for your business, introducing business process automation and controls, without the need for a super user or technical expert.

Document management - OCR

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 includes several enhancements for managing incoming documents. Now you can capture, store and find incoming documents using document capture or an optical character recognition (Lexmark Invoice Capture Service) service, creating purchase invoices or general journal line drafts automatically.

Finance enhancements

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 offers significant improvements within Finance module. Most notable two are described below:

  • Posting Preview functionality in NAV 2016 allows the user to, prior to posting, view the impact that posting the document will have against all affected ledgers.
  • Deferral functionality allows the user to automate the process of deferring revenues and expenses over a pre-defined schedule. This is available for Sales and Purchasing Documents as well as General Journals.

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI, E-everything)

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 includes several enhancements for integration with services. You can send and receive Pan-European Public Procurement Online (PEPPO) invoices across a document exchange service and get currency exchange rate automatically from an exchange rate service.

Enhancements to Web Client

Accomplish even more with Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 in your browser-based interface - improving productivity and performance with more than 60 enhancements to the Web client.

Experience improved page and list navigation, and a significantly shorter start-up time when launching Dynamics NAV in a web browser.

Desktop users can enjoy simplicity and enhanced usability, including using collapsible Fast Tabs and cross-column search. In NAV 2016 you can also use features that are familiar from the Windows client, for example, Freeze Pane, search-as-youtype in field lookups, language selection, changing the company, and more.

Works natively with Dynamics CRM

Microsoft Dynamics CRM integration enables you to couple Microsoft Dynamics CRM records with Microsoft Dynamics NAV records - essentially linking the records together. Once coupled, you can access Microsoft Dynamics CRM records from Microsoft Dynamics NAV and, for some entities, access Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

You can also synchronize data between records so that data is the same in both systems. Below you will find Microsoft Dynamics CRM entities that are integrated with Microsoft Dynamics NAV record types (tables) in the default implementation.

Account -> Customer

Contact -> Contact

User -> Salesperson/Purchaser

Product -> Item and Resource

Transaction Currency -> Currency

Unit Group -> Unit of Measure

Sales Order -> Sales Order

Works natively with Power BI

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 includes an entirely new integration with Power BI that lets you massively increase your business insight with pre-built dashboards and data connections that give teams instant access to key performance indicators in an intuitive environment, designed for secure collaboration.

Power BI is designed specifically for small and mid-sized business (SMB) owners, managers, and executives to provide immediate access to details about performance, customers, sales, and finance. You can drill into even more detail about sales and finance reports, facilitating decision making. You can also modify, extend, and personalize the dashboard to get exactly the information that you need, enhancing insight into your business.
